The night porter/barman was very good. The receptionist excellant and looked after us with the car parking. Hotel was in a very good position.
The Breakfast was not to our usual standards the bacon was luke warm and the eggs could have been better but the service was excellant. Room was very clean although my bed was very creaky but the sea view made up for this.
The food was excellent, it was a shame about the weather
I would have preferred a room with a seaview and also the television was nit high enough to watch it when lying in bed
on old english hotel right on the waterfront. its a little dated but is still charming. the rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. the location is excellent just across the road from the beach and bandstand and with a short stroll into the centre of town. the staff were great and let my friends and I book in early and on the day of our departure kept our luggage in a looked storage room for us until our train in the afternoon.
The staff where very friendly and the rooms quiet.
It feels and sound like every floorboard needs to be replaced, the sqeek very loud and bend when you step on them.
The hotel is in a fantastic location. The breakfast was lovely and the staff were very helpful and accomodating.
The rooms could do with a spot of decoration but you get what you pay for.
The room was clean and comfortable, the staff were pleasant and helpfull. The location was excellent for both beach and town centre.
I had a room at the rear of the hotel and was woken every morning by the sound of bottles being deposited into a bin.the price of drinks at the bar seemed very dear.(Or is this just the going rate in Eastbourne?)
Excellent value....very caring receptionist who came and showed us the exact spot to park our car. Great breakfasts. Comfortable rooms and fabulous sea view. Very friendly staff. Will definitely come again as very good price many thanks!
Localization, quite clean, elevator. Fish for breakfast.
Tv was not working. Wifi likely reaches the first floor only. It's not really a flaw but don't be astonished by the age of customers, everything is done in this hotel for seniors ! Our room was among those having an awful view on the back and this is not recommended for a long stay in Eastbourne ! You can be uncomfortable with the transparent door of the bathroom/toilets.No parking. It's ok on sunday when any parking is free in the city.
Out of all the hotels in eastbourne the cumberland has the best atmosphere.
Leaving the Hotel. Reception staff were very unhelpful, No Dinner Served either Friday or Saturday evening - No offer of assistance where to find somewhere else to eat. Basically like Fawlty Towers
We were very impressed with the cleanliness of our room and bathroom. We attended a private function in the evening and the staff were very good.
Grubby mat in the lift. Not a friendly welcome at reception. Scaffolding outside our room within the building. Staff at breakfast not welcoming.
The atmosphere and charm of the hotel were delightful. Staff were efficient, polite and helpful. Rooms were quaint.
The room we were shown on the internet booking site was nothing like the room we were given.
the room did not have a sea view looking out at fire ascape and brick walls was not very good
Faded glory - the hotel was obviously one something quite spectacular. Location was very good.
The building really needs to be refurbished and is looking very tatty.
Great location and good breakfast. Helpful and friendly staff. It was one of the few hotels that had enough single rooms for our party and we were very pleased that we could all stay together. For the price we paid, the location and standard was very good.
My room was pretty run down, - reminded me of my student days! But the rooms my friends stayed in were much better so luck of the draw. For the money I payed I am not complaining too loudly - everything else was fine.
